Arlene M. Elliot April 29, 1921 - May 15, 2009
OLIVIA -- Arlene Marie Elliot, 88, of Olivia died Friday at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church in Olivia with burial in the Olivia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born April 29, 1921, in Wang Township, rural Sacred Heart, to Victor and Bertha (Pierson) Barber. She attended country school in Wang Township and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1940. She then worked as a housekeeper for several years.
She married Francis Elliot on Jan. 24, 1942, in Granite Falls. They farmed near Olivia until 1976 when they moved into Olivia. She also worked for 13 years at the Olivia Healthcare Center. She moved to Golden Living Center in Olivia in 2007.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, her women's circle and of the Renville County Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her four children: Pat Bauer of Clarkston, Mich., Harry (and Lodeen) Elliot of Momence, Ill., Richard Elliot of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dale (and Donna) Elliot of Olivia; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, a brother, a sister, a grandson and a granddaughter.
