Arlette Rouse March 14, 1920 - Jan. 4, 2009
OLIVIA -- Arlette M. Rouse, 88, died Jan. 4, at the Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames, Iowa.
The service will be at 2:30 p.m. July 11 at Faith United Methodist Church in Olivia with inurnment at 1:30 p.m. at the Bird Island Cemetery.
She was born March 14, 1920, on a farm near Howard, S.D., to Ed and Laura (Jacobsen) Hansen. They moved to Bird Island in 1934 where she graduated from high school and completed normal training to teach in country schools.
She married Wayne Rouse on Dec. 22, 1941. They farmed north of Olivia until they retired and moved to Kissimmee, Fla., in 1987. She moved to Ballard Creek Assisted Living in Huxley, Iowa, in 2007, to be near family. She taught in country schools, was a long-time Sunday school teacher and delivered meals on wheels in the Good Samaritan Retirement Village in Kissimmee.
She is survived by her children: Gene (and Marita) Rouse of Huxley, Iowa, and Glen (and Peg) Rouse of Sedalia, Colo. and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
