Arnold Dengerud Feb. 8, 1937 - Oct. 5, 2009
NEW LONDON -- Arnold Manley Dengerud, 72, of New London, died Monday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake in rural New London. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements with Johnson Funeral Home in New London. Memorials are preferred.
He was born Feb. 8, 1937, in Lake Andrew Township to Walter and Gladys (Nyseth) Dengerud. He grew up on the family farm and attended country grade school in District 25. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1958 and was stationed in Germany.
He returned to Minnesota, living in Minneapolis and working as a carpenter and in bridge construction for Johnson Brothers, Oster Pederson and Lunda Construction. He also farmed with his family on weekends and evenings.
He married Barbara Hjelle on March 18, 1978. They lived on the family farm, and he returned to farming full-time until his retirement in 1998.
He is survived by his wife; children: Steve (and Julie) Dengerud of Grove City, David Dengerud of Starbuck and Nancy Weston of New Hope; three grandchildren; and siblings: Clifford (and Sally) Dengerud of Frankston, Texas, and Gail (and Don) Otteson of Brooten.
