Artists wanted

Fish Gone Wild

The Spicer Beautification Committee is having a "Fish Gone Wild" project in 2010.

The large wooden fish, 36 inches by 13 inches by 2 inches, can be painted, decorated or dressed any way you wish. You can add limbs or fins, whatever you want.

The deadline for being considered is Feb. 18. Names will be drawn and the selected artists will be notified the following week. The fish must be completed and returned by May 20 and will be on display in Spicer this summer. They will be sold in a silent auction in August and the artists will receive a percentage of the final sale price.

To participate, send your name, address, phone number and e-mail address to Willmar Area Arts Council, PO Box 165, Willmar, MN 56201.

Willmar Fests 65th anniversary button

The Willmar Fests Committee is looking for artists to design a commemorative button to celebrate the festival's 65th anniversary.

The button will be round, 3C, inches, and there are no requirements for color, but the Willmar Fests traditional colors are red, white and blue. The 65th anniversary need not be incorporated into the design, but it would be nice.

The deadline to submit designs is Feb. 20. They may be submitted as a paper copy or electronically. Send designs to: Kay Scholten, 608 24th Ave. S.W., Willmar, MN 56201 or e-mail ksds2@charter.net. For more information call Kay at 320-212-6421.
