Orders will be filled in random order on Feb. 26. If available, remaining tickets for the annually sold-out event will go on sale March 1.

The 2010 Jazz Fest features evening performances that include UMM jazz combos, the West Central All Stars, the UMM Alumni Jazz Band, and guest artists Adam Rapa on trumpet, Mike Tucker on saxophone and Bill Carrothers on piano.

In addition there are three days of clinics for more than 900 visiting high school jazz musicians.

The annual Jazz Fest is part of "2010 Celebration," a year-long recognition of campus history. Fifty years ago, the University of Minnesota, Morris, opened its doors, and 100 years ago, the West Central School of Agriculture and Experiment Station was founded. Although the University of Minnesota boarding high school closed in 1963, the West Central Research and Outreach Center continues the Experiment Station legacy.

Quilts, memories session Saturday

WILLMAR -- "On Making Quilts and Memories" is set from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church in downtown Willmar.

Ann Zemke, quilt maker and author of "They Named Me Marjorie: The Brave Journey of an Orphan Train Rider," will speak at 10:30 a.m. Zemke made a biographical quilt about her grandmother, who was 8 when she was sent away on an orphan train and essentially became another family's indentured servant. After giving the quilt to her mother for her 75th birthday, Zemke decided to write a book about her grandmother.

Following Zemke's talk there will be events for kids in third grade and older, as well as for adults. Choose from trying your hand at tying quilts, or create a memory book or listen to other quilt stories or select from other events. Lunch is included and there is no registration fee. Register by calling 320-235-5450.

The event is sponsored by Willmar Public Library and Bethel Lutheran Church.
