Herzak-Bauman will create "The Parlor Room," a site-specific installation that examines how loss affects the living; in particular, the transition one makes from suffering from the death of a loved one to living with and housing that loss.

Her "unique approach to working with the traditional and elegant medium of porcelain yields visually stunning and emotionally poetic sculptures and installations." Herzak-Bauman is said to "expand upon the intrinsic qualities of strength and fragility associated with porcelain to create mysterious and emotional works that reference urban decay, old attic finds, aged and broken objects and allow the porcelain to become a metaphor for presence and absence, death and loss."

Herzak-Bauman was born in Ohio and has been making things out of clay since before she can remember. She lives and works in Minneapolis.
