Art Crawl poster unveiled tonight

MONTEVIDEO -- Meander Art Crawl will unveil their 2009 poster from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at A to Z Letterpress in Montevideo.

Artist Deb Connelly will be on hand to sign a special run of the Meander art work and everyone is welcome to watch the prints being printed at A to Z Letterpress.

There will also be a gathering at the Java River court yard for wine and cheese.

Art, wine festival set for Saturday

SPICER -- Art on the Lake, the second annual summer art and wine festival, will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Melvin's on the Lake in Spicer. Admission is free.

Along with the art exhibit and sale there will be wine tasting and live music by Aquilla.

Participating artists include: Glen Joplin, crystalline glazed pottery; Sharon Schuetze, watercolor and acrylic paintings; Dick Ford, hunting and fishing memorabilia art; Laurel Iverson, fine gemstone asymmetrical jewelry; Shayann Hoffer, contemporary paintings; Violet Dauk, paintings and prints, ceramic jewelry; Charlene Paulson, fused glass and copper enamel jewelry; and Kim Wendlandt, altered book purses, collage.

Willmar artists' works at State Fair

WILLMAR -- Two Willmar residents, Ron Adams and Joanne Meierhofer, had their work accepted for the juried fine art exhibition at the Minnesota State Fair.

Adams' piece is a colored pencil drawing titled "Untethered." Meierhofer's is a pastel titled "Judson Jam."

The exhibit is in the Fine Arts Building at the State fair grounds. The fair opens today and runs through Labor Day.

This year 1,367 pieces were submitted and 382 were accepted in eight categories. In the drawing and pastel category 35 were selected from 163 entries.

Janet Olney earns arts awards

WILLMAR -- Janet L. Olney of Willmar received the "Best 3-D" award and the "Patron Purchase Award" last weekend at the Art Rocks Art Festival in Luverne.

Art Rocks is a juried fine arts festival held on the grounds of the historic courthouse. The show is in its third year and featured about 30 artists and musical performances on an outdoor stage. Awards for "Best 2-D," "Best 3-D," and "Best of Show" were judged by three area artists. The "Patron Purchase Award" is selected by one or more of the sponsors who decide which booth or work of art is the favorite.

Olney has been weaving baskets for 25 years and shows her work at juried art fairs throughout the upper Midwest.

Lorie Line tickets on sale

WILLMAR -- Tickets are now available for the annual Lorie Line holiday extravaganza.

It is set for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 25 at WEAC in Willmar. The theme is "An Intimate Christmas with Lorie Line."
