Comedian

Fr. Jeff Ethen

Brooten, July 23, 6:30 to 10 p.m., KaDe Shack; comedian and priest Jeff Ethan will present "Raise the Roof with Father Jeff," original standup comedy about small town living, farming, weddings, baptisms and more as he steps out from behind the pulpit to pontificate on daily life. Tickets are $20, reserved seating is $25; the heckling station is $1,000 with proceeds used for new shingles at St. Donatus Catholic Church and rectory.

Book lectures, readings & signings

Chuck Brown will sign copies of his book "The Lake Hayes Regatta" from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Book World in the Kandi Mall.

Ben Johnson will sign his book "We are Not Alone: Evidences of the Supernatural Among Ordinary People" from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Renaissance Cultural Alliance in Morris. He will lead a conversation about his book and the stories he has gathered at 3 p.m.

Chuck Brown will read from his book "The Lake Hayes Regatta" from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Olivia Public Library. He will sign books and copies will be available for purchase.
