Athmanns lead BOLD over ACGC

OLIVIA -- BOLD freshman Trent Athmann caught two scoring passes thrown by his his brother, Kyle, and also returned a kickoff 81 yards to account for all the Warriors' touchdowns in a 21-12 win over Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Friday night.

BOLD improved to 1-0 in the West Central South and 2-0 overall. The Warriors play at Benson at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16.

ACGC fell to 0-2 overall and lost its West Central South opener.

ACGC scored first on Dylan Hoerchler's 73 yard run, but Athmann, a freshman, returned the ensuing kickoff 81 yards to put the Warriors in front, 7-6.

In the second quarter, Trent Athmann caught a 32-yard scoring pass from his brother to put BOLD up 14-6 at halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, Hoerchler scored on a five yard run to close the gap to two. But the Athmann brothers teamed up again, this time on a five-yard scoring pass, to put the game out of reach.

Trent Athmann has scored four touchdowns in his first two varsity games.

ACGC dominated time of possession - BOLD ran just 37 plays from scrimmage - but the Falcons turned the ball over on downs five times.
