Sgt. Matthew Akerson said in a news release that the driver of the all-terrain vehicle made a report at about 9:30 p.m. Friday that the ATV had gone through ice that was reported to be 6 inches thick. The caller stated that he had gone over that same area before, but there was also open water nearby.

The Sheriff's Office did not report any injuries.

Akerson said that ice conditions are not safe and are ever-changing.
