Atwater man seriously injured in motorcycle accident
UNION GROVE TOWNSHIP — A 64-year-old Atwater man suffered life-threatening injuries Sunday on Meeker County Road 3 when the motorcycle he was riding struck another motorcycle.
William Shea was airlifted by a Life Link Helicopter from the scene to St. Cloud Hospital, according to a news release from the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
Shea was riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson with a group of motorcycles heading west on County Road 3 in Union Grove Township. The motorcycles in front of Shea slowed down and he was unable to slow in time and struck the motorcycle in front of him, according to the release.
The motorcycle that was struck was a 2013 Harley-Davidson driven by Patrick Walsh, 59, of Atwater. The collision caused Shea to lose control of his motorcycle. Walsh was able to keep control of his motorcycle and he and his passenger were not injured, according to the release.
Besides Meeker County deputies, the Minnesota State Patrol, Gold Cross Ambulance, Grove City Rescue and Grove City Fire were dispatched to the scene.
The crash is under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
