Authorities investigate early morning house fire in Willmar
WILLMAR -- Authorities are investigating a fire early today that extensively damaged a two-story house at 201 Havana St. in Willmar.
Willmar Fire Chief Marv Calvin said the fire department was called between 2:30 and 2:45 a.m. today. Firefighters found fire in the basement, first floor and second floor. They entered the building and extinguished the flames. Firefighters were on the scene for about 3 hours.
Calvin said damage was extensive and he said the house is not habitable.
No one was hurt. The house was not occupied and neighbors said it had been vacant for a couple of weeks. Calvin said power to the house had been turned off. He would not say if there was any furniture in the house.
He said the Willmar Police Department, State Fire Marshal's Office and Willmar Fire Department are investigating the fire. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the police department 235-2244.
