Autos: Ready for antique car run
John M. Elliott of Edina, above left, on-board his 1912 Maxwell Messenger, has completed all 27 of the previous New London to Brighton Antique Car Runs. He called the 120-mile test, as well as the three daily rides from New London that precede it, “a rolling museum to educate the public about old cars.” The 59 one- or two-cylinder engines, pre-1916 autos, plus one steam-powered car, begin leaving at 7 a.m. today for the 120-mile trip. Area stops are in Grove City, Litchfield and Kingston. Elliott has owned this particular Maxwell since 1990 and will have logged 13,000 miles by the end of today’s drive.
