Sheriff Daniel Hartog said the sheriff's office was called at 7:22 p.m. Tuesday to a rural Kandiyohi address where it was reported that a man was missing in Bass Lake. Bass Lake is located about one-half mile northwest of Diamond Lake.

The sheriff's office said the 6-year-old boy made it to shore safely. Neither was wearing a lifejacket. Responding emergency services found Suter in approximately 8 feet of water and he was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the drowning incident, Hartog said.
