According to a news release from the businesses and the Department of Agriculture, there are no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of the products, and healthy people rarely contract the listeriosis that can be caused by the bacteria in question.

Listeriosis is an uncommon but potentially serious disease marked by fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. It can sometimes cause fatal infections in infants, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis can also lead to miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

The products being recalled include approximately 40 pounds of uncured smoked breakfast links, lot code 318130, and 100 pounds of uncured wieners, lot code 318130. The wieners are served at Nate Dog mobile food cart. Both of these products are distributed under Pastures a Plenty label.

The companies said that out of an abundance of caution they are also recalling approximately 20 pounds of pepper sticks sold out of the Belgrade Meat Center, with the same lot code of 318130.

Under the Pastures a Plenty label, approximately 40 pounds of uncured smoked breakfast links and approximately 40 pounds of uncured wieners, both with lot code 311130, are also being recalled.

All recalled packages are marked with a white label and the lot code on it.

Belgrade Meats and Pastures a Plenty are cooperating with the Department of Agriculture investigation.

Consumers may return packages to the retail store Belgrade Meat Center, 408 Washburn Ave., Belgrade, MN, 56312 or Pastures a Plenty, 4075 & 4077 110th Ave. N.E., Kerkhoven, MN, 56252.

Any consumers who believe they may have become ill after eating the product should contact their health care provider. For more details about the product, call Belgrade Meat at 320-254-8287 or Pastures a Plenty at 320-367-2061.
