Bemidji man arrested, held in assault, robbery at Crow River Lutheran Church

WILLMAR -- A 61-year-old Bemidji man has been arrested on charges of assault and robbery for allegedly robbing a woman Tuesday afternoon at Crow River Lutheran Church.

According to Sheriff Dan Hartog, deputies were dispatched to the rural Belgrade church, in northern Kandiyohi County, around 3:20 p.m. The woman, 73, was taken by private party to Paynesville Hospital, where she remains this morning for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, Hartog said.

The sheriff's office issued a description of the Bemidji man and his vehicle statewide to law enforcement. Around 5:40 p.m. the Cosmos Chief of Police located the vehicle, which was later stopped for a traffic violation. He was taken into custody after further investigation by the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's office and is currently in the county jail.
