REDWOOD FALLS -- Benedict Leo "Ben" Eischens, 89, of Redwood Falls, died Thursday at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Nelson-Martin Funeral Service of Redwood Falls is handling arrangements.

He was born Feb. 14, 1920, near Bird Island to Joseph and Christine (Chovitek) Eischens. He moved with his family to a farm near Delhi when he was a young teenager. Several years later the family moved to a farm near Redwood Falls. He attended Delhi Public School.

On June 30, 1945, he married Delphia "Mickey" McMasters in Franklin. They lived near Redwood Falls and in Morton. In 1948, they moved to Redwood Falls where they have resided since. He was a carrier for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the New Ulm Journal for 60 years. At the same time, he was also a courier for the local banks.

He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls and its Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife; children: Gary (and Norlene) Eischens of Minneapolis, Rick (and Dede) Eischens of Crystal, Cheryl Hansen of Redwood Falls, David Eischens of Redwood Falls and Mary (and Ted) Visser of Chanhassen; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his sister: Irene Hertling of Willmar.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter and one brother.
