NORTHFIELD -- Benjamin Elmer Lichttenegger, 101, of Northfield, formerly of Glenwood, died Saturday at the Northfield Care Center.

The services will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Northfield Retirement Center Chapel. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Arlington.

Arrangements are with Benson and Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield.

He was born Sept. 9, 1907, in Kelso Township, Sibley County, to Barth and Ida (Boettcher) Lichttenegger.

He married Helen Timm on Sept. 17, 1932, in Arlington. He worked for the Minnesota State Highway Department for many years living in Willmar and St. Cloud. They moved to Glenwood in 1937 and he was the Pope County Highway engineer from 1953 to 1957. He was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church, Lions Club and Sportsmen's Club. He moved to Northfield in 2003.

He is survived by his children: Kenneth (and Teresa) Lichttenegger of Brooklyn Park and Carol (and Warren) Banks of Apple Valley; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995; his son: Ward in 2007; three brothers; and three sisters.
