Benson downs Little Falls at LPGE meet

The Benson girls tennis team won one of three matches Friday at the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Quadrangular.

The Braves defeated Little Falls 5-2 but lost to LPGE 4-3 and Osakis 7-0.

Benson's Maggie Buyck was 2-1 playing 4-singles, and the 3-doubles team of Gretchen Pederson and Melanie Reese also finished the day 2-1

The Braves' 2-doubles teams of Megan Vergin, Hannah Ricard and Kendra Dingmann also posted two wins.

The Braves are 3-9 and host a triangular with MACCRAY and BBE at 2 p.m. today.

YME wins one at quad

The Yellow Medicine East girls tennis team defeated Martin County West and fell to Montevideo and St. James in a quadrangular Friday.

The Sting won 4-3 over Martin County West and lost 4-3 to Montevideo and 7-0 to St. James.

Allie Trabel, Leah Gluth and Anna Posch won singles matches, and the YME teams swept three doubles matches against against Martin County West. Jordan Trotter won twice at 3-doubles.
