Benson resident wins $50,000 prize

ROSEVILLE -- "It's been a fun day," said Benjamin Miller of Benson after arriving at the Lottery's headquarters in Roseville on Dec. 28 to claim the $50,000 prize that he had won that morning.

According to a news release from the Minnesota State Lottery, he said that he stopped at Dooley Petroleum Inc. on U.S. Highway 12 West in Murdock for a cup of coffee and decided to purchase a Cash Blast scratch ticket. Miller played the first game (Tic Tac Toe) and saw that he had won $10,000. "It was pretty obvious; three 'o's in a row," he recalled.

Miller was thrilled to win $10,000 and decided to take the day off to claim the prize. After a while, he remembered that he'd never finished playing the ticket.

"It was a good 15 minutes before I realized that I should probably scratch the rest of the ticket," he said. As he uncovered the rest of the ticket, he revealed four more $10,000 wins, to win a total of $50,000. "It was really fun," he said.
