Benson topples BOLD

OLIVIA -- Benson won an intense early-season matchup with West Central South Conference rival BOLD on Tuesday as the Braves prevailed 25-14, 26-28, 25-19, 26-24.

BOLD's problem with serve/receive led to the 11-point deficit in Game 1. They tightened up after that and rallied from four points down at 18-22 in Game 2.

At that point Benson (3-1, 3-1) had nine ace serves (eight by Emma Peterson) to one by BOLD.

No ace serves were recorded by either team the rest of the way.

The Braves attack line was led by Samantha Goff with 15 kills, Ellen Reuss with 12 and Peterson with 11. Setter Alexa Nissen recorded 21 assists.

For BOLD (1-1, 3-6), Tyann Caspers made good on 15 of 40 attacks with 12 errors. Nissen finised with 12 kills and Baylie Kubesh tallied 27 assists in 67 sets.
