Benson/KMS to face St. James in opener

The Benson/KMS girls tennis team, champions of Section 5A, will meet Section 3A champ St. James in the quarterfinals of the state Class A tournament at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

Benson/KMS will make its second state trip in three years.

In the Class A individual tournaments on Oct. 24, Abby Fragodt of Benson/KMS will play against Paige Olson of St. James and Ashley Trulock of MACCRAY will face Amanda Arbogast of Virginia in singles action.

In Class A doubles, Katelyn Dubbelde and Kathi Liesenfeld of Yellow Medicine East will play Courtney Rush and Mary Utz of Rochester Lourdes, Alicia Pfeninger and Laura Paulson of Minnewaska will meet Carrie Wight and Sarah Whitaker of St. Paul Academy, and Chelsie McGraw and Brenna Johnson of Litchfield will take on Mary Allen and Kelsey Atherton of the Blake School.
