Bergeson tops 1,000 points
Montevideo's Brett Bergeson became the area's latest 1,000-point career scorer in the Thunder Hawks' 77-34 win over BOLD on Tuesday night.
Bergeson, a 6-foot-1 senior, needed 19 points to reach the goal and he scored 19 against the Warriors. He got his 1,000th point on a 15-foot jumper, said Montevideo head coach Dan Douglas, but it's appropriate that nine of his points came on 3-pointers.
"It's his outside shooting ability that sets him apart," Douglas said. "He can go out beyond the 3-point line and shoot it consistently. When he gets it going he's tough to stop. All (his teammates) know when he gets that look in his eye, get him the ball."
Bergeson is the sixth Montevideo player to surpass 1,000 points, joining Tyler Grey, Cody Dyshaw, Lance Doppler, Tramel Barnes and Merle McClung.
