Bergeth files for City Council seat

WILLMAR — Todd Bergeth filed an affidavit of candidacy this week for the Feb. 12 special election to fill the two-year unexpired term of Doug Reese in Ward 4 on the Willmar City Council.
Bergeth moved to Willmar in August 1995 to take the job as sports director at Lakeland Broadcasting. He lived in six different states prior to coming to Willmar during a 26-year radio career.
He owns a home in the Pleasant View subdivision and is in a committed relationship with girlfriend Tanya Schmidt for three years. He has been the public address voice of the Stingers the last three years. He is a former political party delegate and drives bus for Willmar Bus Service part-time in the afternoon.
Audrey Nelsen and Jay Lawton have also filed.
The last day to file for the special election at the City Clerk’s Office is 5 p.m. Dec. 18.
