Bernard E. Sprague

APPLETON -- Bernard Eugene Sprague, 84, of Appleton, died Monday at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Appleton City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Zniewski Funeral Home-Vaala Chapel in Appleton.
He was born May 6, 1924, in Strandburg, S.D., to Andrew and Caroline (Palmer) Sprague. He grew up in South Dakota.
He married Elizabeth Kaldin as a young man and they were later divorced. His second wife was Wilma Scharge and they were later divorced. He had many careers during his life, and lived in many states including South Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Oregon, California and Minnesota. He served in the United States Army during World War II and continued to serve in the National Guard.
He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He is survived by his sister: Lena Pope of Detroit Lakes; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
