Bernice E. Benson June 9, 1918 - April 11, 2009
DANVERS -- Bernice Ella Benson, 90, of Danvers died Saturday at United Hospital in St. Paul.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson. Burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at church. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home in New London.
She was born June 9, 1918, in Shible Township, Swift County, to Paul and Ella (Schreck) Reuss. She grew up on the family farm and attended country grade school. The family moved to Holloway where she attended Holloway High School.
She married Alfred Benson on Oct. 9, 1938. They lived in Danvers where she worked as the postal clerk and her husband was the postmaster. She retired in 1977. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson and Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Danvers, prior to its closing, where she was a Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher.
She is survived by her children: Dave (and Gayle) Benson of Eden Prairie, Donna (and Steve Olin) Benson of Lindstrom and Denise (and Larry Maki) Benson of Deer River; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a sister: Ruby Reich of San Diego.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005; a daughter: Darlene Dallman; a son: Donald Benson; three brothers; and four sisters.
