Bernice J. Vanderby

GLENWOOD -- Bernice Jane Vanderby, 45, of Glenwood, died Thursday at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She had suffered with brain cancer.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Church of the Sacred Heart in Glenwood. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Glenwood.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and parish prayers at 6:45 p.m., and visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
She was born May 13, 1963, in Brainerd, to Clarence and Elizabeth (Thesing) Koering. She grew up on a farm near Fort Ripley and then moved to Carlos with her family in the fall of 1973. She graduated from Jefferson Senior High School in Alexandria in 1981. She was a 1985 graduate of the Alexandria Technical College secretarial program.
On Sept. 8, 1984, she married Terry Allen Vanderby in Belle River. They lived in Elbow Lake and then moved to Glenwood, where they have lived since. She began working at Eagle Bank in Glenwood in 1986 and continued to work there until her death.
She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, singing in the choir and teaching religious education.
She is survived by her husband; three sons: Nathan of Minneapolis, Travis of Alexandria and Tyler at home; her parents of Carlos; a sister: Lois (and Craig) Drexler of Carlos; two brothers: Dennis (and Anne) Koering of Washington and Jason (and Rebecca) Koering of Little Canada; and her grandmother: Irma (Winter) Barie.
She was preceded in death by grandparents.
