WILLMAR -- Bernice Maud Engfer, 88, of Willmar died Monday evening at Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home in Willmar.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home. Burial will be in Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.
Visitation is one hour before the service at the nursing home. Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar is handling arrangements.
She was born April 17, 1920, in Duluth to Fred and Maud (Birdsall) Petry. She grew up in Hinckley and, in 1938, moved with her family to Jackson. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1939.
She married Harold Grove in June 1940. They lived in Jackson for 10 years and moved to Adrian where they owned and operated the I.H. dealership for 10 years. They moved to Alexandria where they owned and operated the Andra Motel. They later divorced.
She married Henry Engfer on Dec. 5, 1969, and they lived in Minneapolis. In 1974, they moved to Alexandria. In 1975, Henry died and in 1976, Bernice moved to Willmar where she was employed at Bethesda Homes in the laundry department. She retired in 1986 due to her health.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one son: Robert (and Kathy) Grove of Willmar; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, one brother and three sisters.
