OLIVIA -- Bernice Florence "Bernie" Olson, 90, of Olivia, died Monday at her home.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia. Burial will be in the Olivia Cemetery.
Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.
She was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Bird Island to Peter H. and Anna (Firle) Smith. She graduated from Bird Island High School in 1937.
She married Joseph Merrill Taylor on Oct. 1, 1938, in Plankinton, S.D., and they lived on a farm north of Olivia. Following her husband's death in 1960, she lived on the farm and worked in town at Wingates.
She married Ernest Olson on June 5, 1971, and they lived in Olivia. They owned and operated the Olivia Bowling Center for many years. Ernie died in 1995.
She was a member of Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church and the Quilters Along the Yellowstone Trail.
She is survived by her daughter: Sandra (and Glenn) Pletcher of Vermillion; her son: Douglas Taylor of Danube; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; stepdaughter: Sharon (and Donald) Dohrer; sister: Bette (and Dean) Pletcher of Long Lake; and a brother: Leo (and Nellie) Smith of Bird Island.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, one sister and two brothers.
