RENVILLE -- Bernice Jane Tatge, 84, of Renville died Saturday at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Renville. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born July 3, 1924, in Swift County to Elling and Dena (Hanson) Swingseth. She grew up in Swift Falls and attended country school.
She married Kenneth Tatge on Feb. 1, 1945, in Benson. They lived in Benson until moving to a farm near DeGraff. They moved to a farm south of Benson and lived there until 1964, when they returned to Benson. In 1967, they moved to the Renville area, farming south of town. In 1976, they moved into Renville. She worked at the RenVilla Nursing Home for 16 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and ladies aid and worked as a volunteer for the Bloodmobile.
She is survived by her children: Steven (and Eva) Tatge of Renville, Larry (and Lenore) Tatge of Grove City, Jerome Tatge of Lake Park, Iowa, and Susan (and Harold) Cotant of Laporte; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; siblings: Ervin Swingseth of Benson, Alice Tatge of Benson, and Gladys Benson of Montevideo.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985, two brothers and one sister.
