GRANITE FALLS -- Bertha Christine Hanson, 89, of Granite Falls died Wednesday at Granite Manor in Granite Falls.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements are by Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield.
She was born March 25, 1920, at the family home in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, to Orville T. and Maria (Gudmundson) Hanson. She grew up in Swede Prairie Township and attended school in District 86. She graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1938 and from teacher's training in Montevideo in 1940. She was a country school teacher in Yellow Medicine and Lyon counties. For 10 years, she was the primary caregiver for her mother, bedridden after a stroke.
She moved to Cottonwood in 2006. In March 2008, she became a resident of Granite Manor in Granite Falls. She was an active member of St. Lucas, where she taught Sunday school and served in various capacities in the women's organizations.
She is survived by a sister: Charlotte Hoff.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
