Betty J. Gangle June 1, 1938 - March 18, 2009
WILLMAR -- Elizabeth "Betty" June Gangle, 70, of Willmar died Wednesday at her home.
The service will be at 10:30 am, Saturday at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born June 1, 1938, in Madison to Harold and Marie (Schmieding) Kirchberg. She grew up in Madison, attended St. Michael's Catholic School and graduated from Madison High School in 1956. She worked as a waitress after high school
She married Donovan Gangle on Sept. 13, 1958, in Madison. They lived in Aberdeen and Brookings, S.D., until 1973, when they moved to Willmar. She did daycare work at Kandi Courts and the Kandi Entertainment Center in Willmar and also did daycare out of her home. In 1994, they worked as caretakers for an apartment complex in Marshall for several years. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary, where she participated in Daughters of Isabella, altar, and rosary and taught Sunday school. She served as a Girl Scout leader and was chairperson for the annual cookie sale for many years.
She is survived by her children: Greg Gangle of Willmar, Susan Gangle of Willmar; Kathy (and Tom) Harrah of Rochester; two grandchildren; siblings: Cheryl (and Gene) Hodge of Madison, Rosie (and John) Blowers of Marshall, Barb (and Howard) Jorgenson of Montevideo, Deb (and Glen) Henningson of Ortonville, Becky Kirchberg of Marshall, and Pam (and Jim) Saboe of Zion Hills, Penn.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000 and one sister.
