Betty J. Rosby July 14, 1925 - April 28, 2009
STARBUCK -- Betty Jane Rosby, 83, of Starbuck died Tuesday at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Indherred Lutheran Church, rural Starbuck. Burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery in Kensington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born July 14, 1925, in Starbuck to Carl and Josephine (Ellingson) Bottleson. She grew up on a farm and attended District 22 school. She moved to Starbuck, graduated from Starbuck High School and then worked at North American Life and Casualty in Minneapolis.
She married Lloyd Rosby on March 7, 1948. They lived on a farm south of Kensington. In 1960, they moved to Kensington where they operated the meat market and locker plant. After the locker plant closed, she worked for Fingerhut in Benson. In 1971, Lloyd had a stroke and they moved to Starbuck. She worked as an aide for the Minnewaska Lutheran Home and cared for Lloyd until she retired in 1994. She was a member of Indherred Lutheran Church, the women's circle, the hospital auxiliary and the Minnewaska Lutheran Home Auxiliary. She moved to the Holly Ridge Retirement Village in February 2008 and, in January, she moved to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home.
She is survived by her son: Gordon (and Karen) Rosby of Aberdeen, S.D.; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and one sister: Bernadine Lund of Glenwood.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; her daughter: Diane in 1970; one sister and one brother.
