Betty L. Hellander

GOLDEN VALLEY -- Betty Lou Hellander, 82, of Golden Valley, formerly of Willmar, died Sunday.
The service will be at 11 a.m. today at Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.
Arrangements are by Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel in Robbinsdale.
She was born April 6, 1926, in Fargo, N.D., to Ida (Jellum) and Carl Norman. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo High School in 1943. She then worked for Merchants National Bank as a transit operator. She lived briefly in Seattle where she was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank. She then joined Bell Telephone in Fargo as a typist and secretary to the manager and worked there for nine years.
She married Thomas Arthur Hellander on April 3, 1951. They lived in Moorhead and Willmar. For the past two years, she lived at La Bonne Vie Assisted Living in Golden Valley.
She is survived by her eight children: Carol Williams of Carmel, Calif., Martha (and Larry Christiano) of Wilmette, Ill., Mary (and James) Barber of New London, Judith (and the Rev. Wigle) Tamboer of the Netherlands, Tom (and Charmaine) Hellander of Brooklyn Park, John (and Nanette) Hellander of San Diego, Calif., Ida Hellander of Oak Park, Ill., and Nancy (and Jason) Pung of Robbinsdale; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother: Donald L. Norman of Arlington Heights, Ill.; and a sister: Harriet Williams of Bellingham, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and one brother.
