NEW LONDON -- Betty Lou Johnson, 84 of New London, died Monday at the Clara City Care Center.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in New London.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home in New London and for one hour prior to the services at the church.
She was born July 27, 1924, in Greenville, Iowa, to Otto and Hazel (Mills) Wild. She attended schools in Iowa, Sioux Falls, S.D. and Ellsworth, where she graduated. She worked in Rock Rapids, Iowa, St. Louis, Mo., and Sioux Falls, S.D.
She married Wilford Johnson on Nov. 29, 1952, in Steen. They lived in New London, Adrian and Luverne, before returning to New London in 1967. She worked for the Willmar Cookie Company for 15 years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, secretary of ladies aid and Bible study leader for circle.
She is survived by her children: Karen (and Robert) Oliverio of Louisville, Ky., Cathy Johnson (and Greg King) of Marshall, James (and Wanda) Johnson of Montevideo and Greg (and Marjie) Johnson of Grafton, N.D.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister: Margie DeGroot of Luverne.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000 and one granddaughter.
