Bird Island, Minn., man gets 68 months in stabbing case


WILLMAR — Michael Jon Underland, 29, of Bird Island, was sentenced Monday to 68 months in prison on a felony second-degree assault charge for stabbing a man in the abdomen in February 2012 at a rural Spicer residence.

As part of his sentence handed down by District Judge Donald M. Spilseth in Kandiyohi County District Court, Underland was given credit for 282 days already served in custody and ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and $587.42 in restitution.
