WILLMAR -- A public meeting tonight offers residents the chance to tell the Kandiyohi County Board of Commissioners what they think about a proposal to realign County Road 9 east of Eagle Lake and make improvements on County Road 26 in the same area.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the community room in the lower level of the Health and Human Services building at 2200 23rd St. N.E. (Use the west entrance.)
Public Works Director Gary Danielson says the meeting will be an opportunity for the public to weigh in on where and how the road will be constructed before a final decision is made by the county, most likely during the regular board meeting on Sept. 21. Reconstruction of County Road 26 is planned, and reconstruction and possible realignment are planned on County Road 9. A bike and pedestrian trail is also part of the planned project.
The proposal put before the County Board in April suggested shifting the southern segment of County Road 9 away from the lake and to the east to align somewhat with an existing gravel township road. High traffic counts and the numerous accesses from homes on the lake were cited as safety concerns.
