Bobcat Company announced Tuesday the company will transfer its compact attachments line production from its Litchfield plant to a North Dakota facility and then will relocate its heavy equipment attachment operations from Doosan equipment facility in North Carolina to Litchfield.

The compact attachment line will move to a Bismarck manufacturing facility operated by Bobcat partner Menlo Worldwide Logistics, according to a Bobcat news release. As many as 150 new positions in Bismarck will be created to support the expanded compact attachment line production.

"This move enables us to better respond to customer demand for our attachments while leveraging the expertise of our strategic logistics partner in the process," said Rich Goldsbury, president of Bobcat.

According to the company, the increased compact attachments business has outgrown the Litchfield plant's capacity. The transfer from Litchfield to Bismarck is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Bobcat plans to continue operating the Litchfield facility by moving the heavy equipment operations from a Doosan Infracore Construction Facility in Statesville, N.C. This move will create about 65 positions in Litchfield, which will replace about one third of jobs currently located at the Litchfield plant.

The company also announced Tuesday that it will build an Innovation Center in Bismarck, designed to be a center of excellence in product design to centralize its customer-, product- and dealer-focused functions and processes. The center is expected to house about 175 positions.

Bobcat is headquartered in West Fargo, N.D., and is a leader in the manufacturing and distribution of compact equipment. The company first developed its first compact machine 50 years ago and now has a 600 dealer network in North America.
