BOLD holds off Falcons

BIRD ISLAND -- Sam Steffel raced home on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning, allowing BOLD to sneak by Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 4-3 in West Central South baseball action on Thursday.

BOLD's Dylan Gass earned the win, allowing seven hits and no walks, while fanning six.

Losing pitcher Jeff Peterson was also sharp. He gave up five hits, walked two and struck out five.

Tyler Hebrink scored the Warriors' (8-4, 10-5) first two runs on an outfield error and a long single by Shawn Dollerschell.

Down 3-0 after three, the Falcons (6-6, 6-8) rallied to tie it with two in the fifrth and one in the sixth. Jordan Tanner and Joel Slinden each had RBI hits.

Alex Gay's fly out broke the tie in the bottom of sixth.

Brooks Mauer singled and doubled for ACGC.
