Bonita 'Bonnie' Stahler Aug. 12, 1918- Sept. 20, 2009
MORRIS -- Bonita Gayle "Bonnie" Stahler, 91, of Morris died Sunday.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and prayer service at 7 p.m., at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born Aug. 12, 1918, in St. Paul to Roy and Ellen (Ostrom) Giberson. She graduated from Morris High School in 1936. She attended Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, and graduated from University of Minnesota in 1972 with a degree in human services. After she graduated, she worked at Villa of St. Francis, where she established the social service department.
She married Tom Stahler on Jan. 4, 1941.
She lived most of her life in Morris. She was leader of Cub Scout and Blue Bird troops; a member of the parent teacher auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Stevens County Historical Society and Museum, the students club, Assumption Catholic Church, St. Martin's Mission Circle and a Monday faith circle. She was secretary of the Stevens County DAC for five years and a longtime member of Pomme De Terre Golf Club. In 2002, they gave land to the University of Minnesota to be used as a teaching prairie.
She is survived by four daughters: Susan (and Jim) DuPay of Cambridge, Patricia (and Mike) Buckle of Hammond, Wis., Coleen (and Tom) Behm of Marshall and Merrilee Stahler of Morris; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Sharon (and Bud) Marler of Ashland, Ore.
She was preceded in death her husband in 2000, one granddaughter, three infant great-grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.
