Brady Damhof was injured shortly before noon Saturday in Fahlun Township.

Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog confirmed the boy's identity early this morning and a spokesperson at the hospital has reported that Damhof is in fair condition.

Damhof was airlifted from the scene of the accident and taken to the metro hospital

A Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department news release Monday identified the adult as Gary Christoper, 39, of Blomkest.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Kandiyohi County Road 3 and County Road 4 in Fahlun Township, according to a release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's office. The intersection is about two miles east of Svea and about a mile and a half north of Kandiyohi County Park 1, which is on the far western tip of Big Kandiyohi Lake. The Sheriff's office is investigating the incident.

Hartog said he received a preliminary report on the shooting Saturday. It appeared that the boy had been walking ahead of an adult while hunting, he said. When the adult stumbled after stepping into a hole, the gun went off.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene and were assisted by Blomkest First Responders, Willmar Ambulance, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

The Kandiyohi County SHeriff's Office is continuing the investigation.
