The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa boys basketball team, fresh off a dominating performance in winning its section championship, will open the Class A state tournament against Lakeview Christian Academy at 11 a.m. Thursday at Williams Arena.

The 2011 state runners-up are 30-0 and the top seed in the Class A draw. Lakeview is 25-5.

Litchfield, the Section 6AA champ, will learn its state tournament opponent following tonight's Section 7AA final pitting Esko against Braham at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. The Class AA state tournament begins Wednesday with games at Williams Arena and Target Center.

Should BBE advance, the Jaguars would play the winner of Thursday's 1 p.m. game that features Mt. Lake/Butterfield-Odin and No. 4 seed Browerville (27-2).

In the other Class A games, Fosston (24-4) plays No. 2 seed Southwest Minnesota Christian Academy (26-1) at 3 p.m. Thursday. SWMC defeated Dawson-Boyd in the Section 3A final.

Prairie Seeds Academy (24-2) plays Rushford-Peterson (24-5), the No. 3 seed, at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Both the Class A and Class AA first round winners play semifinals games Friday, and both championship games are Saturday.
