PIERZ -- For the second straight year, the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa boys basketball team completed an undefeated regular season.

The Jaguars defeated Pierz 73-64 on the road in a Central Minnesota Conference game on Saturday to run their record to 26-0. They open the Section 6A playoffs at 7 p.m. on Thursday against the winner of a play-in game between Brandon-Evansville and Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.

Last year, the Jaguars won 32 straight games before falling to Springfield in the Class A state championship game.

"Now the real important stuff starts," said Jaguars head coach Dave Montbriand. "We've been real consistent, so there's no reason to stop now."

Against Pierz, Connor Goodwin led the Jaguars with 23 points and he had 10 rebounds, and Brian Goodwin had 15 points, 10 assists and 5 steals. Billy Borgerding had 17 points and led BBE with 11 boards.
