Boys Basketball: BBE pounds Kimball

BROOTEN -- The BBE boys basketball team dusted another Central Minnesota Conference opponent on Friday to win its 22nd straight game, but in the next 10 days the Jaguars will face three difficult obstacles to a second-straight undefeated regular season.

The Jaguars defeated Kimball 76-36 on Friday and will have a week off before facing CMC rival Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted at Howard Lake.

The Lakers lost by 11 at Brooten on Jan. 20 and had a 16-5 overall record heading into Friday's game against Holdingford.

"They've got a good team," Jaguars head coach Dave Montbriand said. "They beat Litchfield (75-67 on Dec. 16) and they gave us a good game the first time. It will be good for us."

After their game at HLWW, the Jaguars play a non-conference home game Feb. 27 against Ashby, which was 17-1 entering Friday's game against 20-0 Battle Lake, and then the Jaguars play at Pierz, which was 8-1 and in second place in the CMC and 16-5 overall.

Aainst Kimball, nine players scored for BBE, which led by 29 at halftime.

Billy Borgerding led the Jaguars with 17 points, and James Kuefler and Connor Goodwin both scored 14.

Connor Goodwin also had 14 rebounds and Kirby Montbriand had 9 boards to go with his 7 points.

Brian Goodwin scored 5 points and had 10 assists and 3 steals.

MACCRAY 81, TMB 52

MACCRAY was nearly perfect shooting in the first half and rolled past Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 81-52 in a Camden Conference game Friday.

The Wolverines (13-1, 18-5) were 24 of 29 from the field in the first half to rack up 58 points.

Corey Abbas paced MACCRAY with 18 points and sinking two of the Wolverines' 12 3-pointers.

Riley Aeikens had 14 points and 3 steals, and Brady Boike added 14 points and 6 rebounds.

Taylor Thissen tacked on 13 points and 6 assists.

Parker Lanoue led TMB (8-5, 10-11) with 18 points.
