Boys Basketball: BBE slams Maple Lake

BROOTEN -- Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa became the first area team to post 20 wins with an 87-64 victory over Maple Lake on Thursday in a Central Minnesota Conference game.

Connor Goodwin led the Jaguars with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocked shots, but he got plenty of double-double help from Kirby Montbriand, who finished with 19 points, 10 boards and 7 assists, and from Brian Goodwin, who had 19 points, 8 assists and 3 steals.

The Jaguars are idle until Tuesday, when they travel to play at Rockford.

Blake Johnsrud notched a double-double for the Lakers (3-4, 5-12) with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Austin Giese had 11 points and Trenton Noetzelman added 7 points and 3 steals.

Josh Bungum led the Bulldogs (0-7, 3-15) with 9 points.

Joey Lee scored 20 points and Dawson-Boyd beat Camden Conference rival Lakeview 69-30 on Thursday.

The Blackjacks improved to 12-1 in the conference to stay a half-game ahead of MACCRAY. They are 17-2 overall.

Zach Stelter racked up 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.

Nathaniel Huot added 10 points and 3 assists and Evan Robertson had 6 points and 7 rebounds.

Lee also had 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals.
