Crusader Classic

Litchfield 62, Pierz 44

ST. CLOUD — The Litchfield Dragons crushed Pierz 37-19 in the first half cruised to a 62-44 victory on Saturday at the Crusader Christmas Classic.

Zach Whitchurch led the Dragons (5-2) with 15 points closely followed by Zach Kinny with 14.

Ben Boser and Jess Kasper each put in nine points for the Pioneers (5-4).

Melrose (7-1) brushed aside St. Cloud Cathedral (8-1) in the championship game 94-66. The Crusaders had rallied in the second half Friday to topple Litchfield 67-58.

That denied the Dutchmen an opportunity to get a second shot at the Dragons, which handed them their only loss on Dec. 21 in Litchfield in overtime.
