Boys Basketball: BOLD upsets Montevideo

MONTEVIDEO -- BOLD's Kyle Athmann hit a tiebreaking 12-foot shot from the baseline to upset Montevideo 59-57 with three seconds to go in a West Central South Conference game Thursday.

It was the Thunder Hawks' first conference loss of the season. They are 17-5 overall.

Kyle Athmann paced the Warriors with 31 points and 4 rebounds, while sinking seven 3-pointers.

Zach Remillard added 11 points and 6 assists.

Jake Marcus had 4 points and 4 rebounds and Tyler Rock had 5 points and 4 rebounds.

Jake Douglas led Monte-video with 25 points and 8 rebounds.

Brett Bergeson had 10 points, 3 assists and 2 steals, and Colton Vien had 9 points and 7 rebounds.

The Braves trailed by seven at halftime but opened the second half with an 11-0 run and never lost the lead in a West Central South game on Thursday in Benson.

Benson improved to 4-4 in the conference and 13-7 overall while the Sting fell to 1-8 and 6-12.

Benson's Sam Peterson scored 32 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. He also had 4 assists, and teammate Logan Connelly had 17 points and paired with Colin Ose to grab 7 re-bounds apiece.

Yellow Medicine East had three players score in double figures, with Ryan Reishag finishing with 13 points, Adam Koepk with 12 and Elliot Carmany with 11.

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City got 21 points from Trever Heining and the Falcons beat Lac qui Parle Valley 71-50 in a West Cen-tral South Conference game.

Heining also grabbed 15 rebounds for the double-double.

Dylan Hoerchler added 5 points, 7 assists and 4 steals, and Logan Jacobs had 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Falcons (6-3, 13-7) moved into a second place tie with Morris/Chokio-Alberta.
