BENSON -- Three Benson players scored in double figures, led by Sam Peterson's double-double, and the Braves defeated Hancock 84-60 in their season-opener on Thursday.

The Braves open the West Central South Conference season at Minnewaska at 7:30 p.m. today. Hancock fell to 0-2.

Peterson had 21 points and 11 rebounds and he also added 3 steals. Logan Connelly had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists, and Matt Ahrndt had 15 points and 7 assists. Colin Ose had 9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

Benson led by 11 points at halftime and blew the game open with a 49-point second half.

Hancock's Jordan Miller was the game's top scorer with 24 and he also pulled down nine rebounds for his double-double.

Taylor Holleman had 8 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.

Kimball 70, ACGC 51

With the help of Cameron Hunt's 21 second-half points, Kimball (1-1) outscored ACGC 28-7 in the final five minutes of play after the Falcons had gotten with five points of the Kimball lead. Hunt finished with a game-high 30 points and nearly posted a quadruple-double with his 10 assists, 9 rebounds and 8 steals.

Trever Heining led the Falcons (2-2) with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Dylan Hoerchler added 14 points and 8 steals.
