Boys basketball: CMCS slips by Wabasso

PRINSBURG — Zach Zwart led a balanced Bluejays’ offense with 16 points to power Central Minnesota Christian over Wabasso 59-56 on Thursday.

Zwart was followed by Lucas Van Eps with 11 and Austin Bulthuis and Nick Daugherty with 10 apiece.

Daugherty, a 6-3 junior, cleaned the glass for 12 rebounds.

Wabasso managed to force one tie in the second half after trailing by 8 a half.

Both teams came into the matchup with 10 wins but it was the visitors from Fergus Falls left with 11.

Junior guard Dan Nersten poured in 29 points to lead the Little 8 Conference leaders.

Austin Ostrander scored 13 points and Jake Amundson added 10 for the Lakers, who fell behind 34-21 by halftime.

Hancock trailed by one at the half, but the game slipped away in the second half and the Owls fell 72-54 to Underwood.

Taylor Holleman scored 19 points for the Owls (2-17), and Jerrid Jepma and Collins Brown had 12 each.

Jordan Miller tacked on 6 points and 8 rebounds.

The Owls next play Monday at home against Renville County West.
