Boys Basketball: Dawson-Boyd, Benson, Litch and BBE win tournament games Saturday

MARSHALL -- Dawson-Boyd couldn't get past MACCRAY last season, suffering three of its six losses to the Wolverines, who went on to finish third in the Class A state tournament.

The Blackjacks rid the jinx for good on Saturday night, downing MACCRAY 78-62 in the Section 3A North Sub-Section final at Southwest Minnesota State.

Dawson-Boyd (26-2) won the season rubber match of its three games with MACCRAY, which finished 22-7. The Blackjacks play the South Sub-Section top seed, Southwest Minnesota Christian (25-1), for the Section 3A championship at 8 p.m. Thursday at SMSU.

In other boys tournament games on Saturday:

O BBE had little trouble with Henning, winning 60-30 in the Section 6A South Sub-Section semifinals on Saturday at the University of Minnesota, Morris.

The Jaguars (28-0) play Battle Lake (25-1) for the sub-section championship at 8 p.m. Tuesday at UMM.

O In the Section 6AA South Sub-Section semifinals, Benson defeated Morris/Chokio-Alberta 68-53, and Litchfield took down Minnewaska 68-53. Both games were at St. John's University.

The Braves (18-9) and Dragons (22-4) play at 6:30 p.m. Friday, at St. Cloud State University's Halenbeck Hall.
